Setareh Kaveh
Setareh Kaveh was born and raised in a small city in Northern Iran,
she was deeply influenced by her mother’s work as a Nurse Practitioner and by witnessing the power of compassion, service, and community care. Her upbringing was also shaped by the political repression her family endured under the Islamic Republic. Her father, a political dissident, was imprisoned and denied access to higher education and stable employment for decades. Despite these hardships, her parents instilled in her the values of resilience, dignity, empathy, and service to others.
After studying law in Iran with the goal of advancing justice and human rights, she faced the limitations imposed on women under the regime. Encouraged by her mother to pursue greater opportunities, she immigrated to the United States, where she worked for several years supporting children with physical and mental disabilities while adapting to a new language and culture.
An artist based in the United States, she uses her work to confront the brutality of the Islamic Republic and give voice to those who have been silenced. Her latest ceramic piece, created using the raw and elemental raku technique, transforms fire and fracture into a haunting memorial of black body bags representing the tens of thousands of innocent protesters lost during the January 8–9, 2026 massacres. Through her art, she demands remembrance and bears witness to those the regime seeks to erase.
As a member of Iran Liberty Foundation, she is dedicated to advocating for freedom, human dignity, and the rights of the Iranian people while serving her community with compassion, integrity, and hope.
Katayoon Alizadeh
Katayoon Alizadeh is a human rights advocate, pro democracy activist, and dedicated voice for freedom, justice, and human dignity in Iran.
Driven by a deep and enduring love for her homeland and its people, she has devoted much of her life to advancing fundamental human rights, freedom of expression, and the pursuit of a free and democratic future for Iran. Born and raised in Iran, Katayoon was actively involved in civic and political activities for many years before leaving the country in 2014. Her commitment to justice, liberty, and human dignity has remained unwavering, inspiring her to continue her advocacy efforts beyond Iran’s borders. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences. Her academic background, combined with years of civic engagement and activism, has equipped her with the skills to effectively communicate, educate, and advocate on behalf of the Iranian people. In addition to her advocacy work, Katayoon is a devoted wife and mother of two. She considers family to be one of the most important pillars of her life and believes that building a better future for the next generation requires courage, responsibility, and a steadfast commitment to justice and freedom. Since beginning her advocacy efforts in the United States in 2017, Katayoon has worked tirelessly to amplify the voices of the Iranian people and raise international awareness of their aspirations for freedom, democracy, human rights, and self-determination. She has consistently sought to be a voice for those who are denied the opportunity to speak freely within Iran. Katayoon believes that freedom, human dignity, and the right of people to determine their own future are fundamental and inalienable rights. She also believes that a free and democratic Iran can emerge under the leadership of Reza Pahlavi. In her view, the Pahlavi era played a significant role in Iran’s modernization and development, leaving a historical legacy that continues to inspire many Iranians today. As a Board Member of the Iran Liberty Foundation, Katayoon remains committed to advancing the cause of liberty, democracy, and human rights. Her mission is clear: to advocate for freedom, defend human rights, and ensure that the voices of those striving for a freer, more prosperous, and democratic Iran are heard around the world.
